Bonn has many national and international connections. You can reach Bonn

- by car (and drive German Autobahn),

- by train (and take the ICE high speed train) or

- airplane (and fly directly into Cologne-Bonn Airport, CGN).

If you fly international, you can either fly into CGN airport (Cologne-Bonn) with excellent connections throughout Europe and take the bus into Bonn to your hotel. Or you can fly into FRA airport (Frankfurt) with excellent global connections, take the train to Siegburg/Bonn (the other train route directly to Bonn central station takes you longer, but is very scenic), and change to the tram for the last few kilometers.

The symposium itself will take place at our institute, the Fraunhofer-Institute for Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics (FKIE). The address is:

Zanderstrasse 5

53177 Bonn-Bad Godesberg

Either you take a hotel nearby and walk, or you take the tram line 16 to Bad Godesberg-Stadthalle. It is just 5 minutes to walk afterwards.

This time we do not have a dedicated conference hotel, because the symposium will take place at our institute. Likewise, we did not negotiate special accomodation rates with hotels or hotel chains. Usually you can get better rates on the internet or with hotel booking companies. But accomodation in Bonn is really not an issue: There are multiple hotels of different quality available nearby (Bad Godesberg) or in Bonn. And public transportation (tram, bus) is good in Bonn.

However, the following hotel might be an idea - you would have to travel about 15 minutes by tram (and additional 5 minutes walking) to our institute:

Maritim Hotel Bonn
Godesberger Allee
(Zufahrt: Kurt-Georg-Kiesinger Allee 1)
53175 Bonn

There is another hotel which is closer to our institute and has good rates, too. You can reach us by walking and do not have to take the tram. It is:

Best Western Hotel Kaiserhof

Moltkestraße 64
53173 Bonn-Bad Godesberg

Bonn, Germany

The location of our event is Bonn. Bonn is a beautiful city on the banks of the river Rhine in West Germany, with a population of about 300,000 people. It has a long history: It has been founded in the first century BC as a Roman settlement and is one of Germany's oldest cities. In 1949, the Parliamentary Council drafted and adopted the German constitution, here. Although Berlin has always been Germany's capital, Bonn was the seat of government from 1949 to 1990. Bonn currently shares the status of Germany's seat of government with Berlin. The President, Chancellor and many other government ministries maintaining substantial presences in Bonn.

Bonn has a wonderful location south of the Rhine-Ruhr region with more than 11 Mio. inhabitants. It is the south corner of the "Cologne bay", although the sea is far away. To the south and to the west, Bonn is next to the Eifel with its hills and mountains. South of Bonn the river Rhine comes from a historic area which is world cultural heritage of the UNESCO.

Bonn has a smooth, oceanic climate, so we expect warm and wonderful summer weather during our symposium. But be aware: It might rain!

The symposium will take place in Bad Godesberg, which is south of the city center of Bonn.
